The Autism Family Godmother was founded by Leslie-Ann, an Autism Specialist and Family Support Consultant and a mother to two girls. Leslie-Ann holds a BA degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Masters in Special and Inclusive Education from the Institute of Education (IOE), University College London (UCL). She also is an ADOS-trained practitioner.

Leslie-Ann is passionate about providing autism support services, that are not only accessible but also neurodivergent affirming, for individuals, families, organisations and schools. Owing to her expertise in early childhood development and autism, along with over 12 years experience of working within the neurodiverse, specifically autistic, community, in various roles, Leslie-Ann, adopts an eclectic style incorporating numerous evidence-based interventions such as influence from Social Thinking and The Zones of Regulation Curriculum. Leslie-Ann utilises an individual-centric approach and in turn provides tailored support and stategies for the individuals, families and practitioners that she works, hand in hand, with.

Meet The Founder
Hello!

I'm Leslie-Ann, the founder of The Autism Family Godmother!

My interest for the thrills and complexities of neuroscience started way back which led me to my studies. Fast forward to working within many different roles within the private and public sector, collaborating with a network of professionals and working with hundreds of children, young people and adults, along with their families, both inside and outside the home.

I'm passionate about:
-
Supporting teams, around the individual, to ensure they feel well informed and confident about how different neurotypes may differ.
-
Helping teams to better understand behaviour responses, how they may differ and why - once this is covered, appropriate strategies to support can be explored.
-
Guiding teams to work alongside the individual - ensuring their approach is suitable for the specific needs including their age and stage.
